The Republican State Enterprise "Kazakhstan Mint of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was founded in 1992 on the basis of the Ulba Metallurgical Plant in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. The founder of the enterprise is the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is the issuer of the national currency in Kazakhstan and will determine the need for the country's economy in cash. According to the Charter, the Mint faces two main tasks - providing the Republic of Kazakhstan with national currency coins and state awards - orders and medals.

Our mint has a production run starting from casting and alloy rolling to striking and coating. We produce coins of three types: circulating coins made from base metal alloys and galvanised steel blanks, commemorative and bullion coins made from base and precious metals.
Kazakhstan is the only country in the world, which produces coins with tantalum. It has become a unique feature of the coins from Kazakhstan. In 2011 the Kazakhstan Mint obtained a patent for coins with tantalum. Our mint specialists have developed various processing methods of changing tantalum's color up to 18 different color shades and hues, which pushes back the limits of coin designing.

The Kazakhstan Mint possesses modern equipment for the production of commerative coins, comparable to the world's leading mints. The enterprise is engaged in updating technological equipment on an annual basis in accordance with a technical re-equipment plan.
The Kazakhstan Mint was one of the first enterprises in the Republic of Kazakhstan to be certified according to the international standard ISO 9001: 2015 and has a certificate of compliance with the quality management system (QMS). This certificate provides an advantage when participating in tenders for the supply and manufacture of coin products.
